TICKET TO DANCE
Swoosh, swoosh, shuffle, shuffle, swoosh, swoosh. Music emits from the keyboards as fast-paced shoe soles scatter across the wooden floor in a delicate, yet harmonious rhythm. Mary Jean McCrary, lets out a giggle.
Mary Jean, age 77, has spent many Sundays clasping arms to shimmy across the dance floor with acquaintances and friends. She began ballroom dancing when she first met her husband in her early twenties. She says they danced together many weekends throughout their marriage, until her husband passed away about seven years ago.
Dancing has helped her cope with her husband’s passing.
